A Place at The Table

I recently read that community prayer is the Opus Dei, the Work of God. Each week, on a Tuesday evening, Christ Church sets a time aside for our Opus Dei. Like so much of the work of God, this time is woven into the fabric of the ordinary life of our church. People come; offer their time to God, pray for the church, friends and acquaintances, and accept the invitation from Jesus to remember Him by participating in Communion.
In the busyness of life, in a church full of activity, time is set-aside for the Opus Dei, community prayer.
I believe for those that come, they realize how true it is that community prayer helps to recognize God’s work in the church and within their own souls.
I could write of those that come and are healed or those that leave refreshed, or those who come and sense a flickering flame of love for God burns a little brighter, but it’s not just about an individual experience, it really is about caring for the community. This caring isn’t as concrete as some of the other activities of God in our church but we believe it is foundational to the vitality and sustainability of all that is expressed in the numerous ways God’s work is done through our church.
The Elders have also set aside quarterly days of prayer, you may wish to consider coming to the next one November 15th.
