Elder Updates

Please be in prayer for Christ Church’s request for a parking variance for the Condo that will be considered at the E.G. town meeting February 26, 2008. The request for the variance will allow us to have more flexibility for the Condo use.

The Elders are thankful for all those that participated in the recent discussions regarding the church’s 3-5 year plan. The Elders will prioritize the comments and suggestions and begin to form teams to address the issues raised.

The Executive Pastor Search Team recommended 4 candidates to the Elders in November 2007. The Elders have contacted all 4 candidates and have begun nearing the end of the interview process.

Another issue to keep in prayer is the State land sale near the church property. We will submit a bid for 2 parcels of land when invited to do so.

The results of The Reveal survey will be returned to us by early April. We will make the information available to the congregation as soon as we are able to do so.

There will be a Sunday morning class for discerning your spiritual gifts offered during March. If you would like to know more about how God has gifted you, please attend this Spirit led class.

Another Good Samaritan
Luke 17:11-19

Now on his way to Jerusalem, Jesus traveled along the border between Samaria and Galilee. As he was going into a village, ten men who had leprosy met him. They stood at a distance and called out in a loud voice, "Jesus, Master, have pity on us!" When he saw them, he said, "Go, show yourselves to the priests." And as they went, they were cleansed. One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. He threw himself at Jesus' feet and thanked him—and he was a Samaritan. Jesus asked, "Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? Was no one found to return and give praise to God except this foreigner?" Then he said to him, "Rise and go; your faith has made you well.”


In the last sentence Jesus says, your faith has made you well.
The Greek word for "made well" means to save, keep safe and sound, to rescue from danger or destruction.

As we enter into Lent more deeply, I would like us to reflect on this Scripture for a few days. Have you identified areas in which you have asked God for healing or transformation? Have you taken the time to look back and see just how God has been gracious to you? Can you think of ways in which He has kept you from harm, or rescued you from danger? Would you be willing to take a few minutes during this Lenten Season and thank Him specifically for those occasions that come to mind?
