Robert's Meditation

January 2008

We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you, because we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love you have for all the saints— the faith and love that spring from the hope that is stored up for you in heaven and that you have already heard about in the word of truth, the gospel that has come to you. All over the world this gospel is bearing fruit and growing, just as it has been doing among you since the day you heard it and understood God's grace in all its truth. You learned it from Epaphras, our dear fellow servant, who is a faithful minister of Christ on our behalf, and who also told us of your love in the Spirit.

Colossians 1:3-7
St. Paul

Dear Bothers and Sisters in Christ, this month I would like to parallel Lyle’s sermon given Sunday January 13, 2008. His focus was unity.
In the beginning of this letter to the Colossians, Paul affirms their faith in God and their love for their fellow believers. He also writes of the gospel bearing fruit and growing.
Although written to the church gathered at Colossae, I would like to suggest that we consider these words from Colossians 1:3-7, for us individually.
In the Letter to the Colossians, Paul writes about the supremacy of Christ and the need to be reconciled to Him.
During the Tuesday Evening Service, January 15, 2008 we looked at this scripture in the context of being reconciled to God, others and ourselves.

Reconcile - 1. To reestablish a close relationship.

2. To become compatible or consistent:

This process of reconciliation is an ongoing challenge for most of us. We sometimes loose our focus when things are going well.
So, some questions for your prayer time.
Are you aware of areas you may need to reestablish a closer relationship with God, others or yourself? Please write down the ones that come to mind and bring them to your prayer time.
Are you aware of areas where you need to be more compatible and consistent in your own life? Again, please write them down and bring them to your prayer time.

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ
