A Meditation from Robert

Matthew 11:7-9 & 18-19

"What did you go out into the desert to see? A reed swayed by the wind? If not, what did you go out to see? A man dressed in fine clothes? No, those who wear fine clothes are in kings' palaces. Then what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, a prophet.
John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, 'He has a demon.' The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, 'Here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and "sinners."

He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him.

Dear Sisters and Brothers, as I reflect on these passages I am drawn to think of ways that I miss seeing Jesus during my day. Jesus, the One who is all around me, inviting me to come closer and look deeply into His being. Can I see Him in the eyes of one who does not dress like me? Can I see him in the eyes of one who does not look like me? Can I see Him in the eyes of one who does not pray like me? Can I see Him in your eyes? Will I?

Updates

We will be having a week of prayer from September 23rd- September 30th prior to our Annual Meeting September 29th.

We have posted 2 positions to help with our office staffing


We will have an Elders Coffee September 16th at 11:30a.m. One of the items open for discussion will be the revised By-Laws which shall be made available shortly, and voted on September 29th.

Our fall series this year will be “So You Want To Change The World”.
Lyle will lead us through a 8 week series that will have three components each week, The Journey Inward , The Journey Outward ,The Journey Together

As most of you know Christ Church has purchase a condominium at Steeple View Condominiums on Cedar Ave July 25th. Hopefully this will relieve some of our space issues. The unit is 3560 square feet and will now need to be finished for us to move in. The projected time of its completion is February/March 2008. This will not only give us the critically need space for our children on Sunday mornings but will also provide us the meeting space we need during the week.

You might notice some changes in the Community room in September, let us know your thoughts.


There will be a Discover Christ Church Expo on September 16th. This will be a time when we can learn more about CC and all it has to offer. Whether it's serving/volunteering, being served, connecting with a small group, or increasing spiritual knowledge, we will have a table to guide you. You will be able to sign-up for a small group, or sign-up your children for their programs that begin next week 9/23.
